Four more parents conferences in the English class

Ja hem fet quatre xerrades més a la classe d'anglès!

We have already had two more Friday talks!. At the first one we listened to Hadi , Ruth's mum. She told us the most important features of her home land The Netherlands. Hadi showed us a map of her country and pointed out the village where she was born called Groningen. This was just the beginning of a nice virtual tour  with beautiful pictures. Akeles and Mowglis got the idea of what Holland looks like. They learnt that it is a flat country, that there are many more bikes than people  that there are lots of cows and tulips and that they have lots of dikes and cannals!

For the second one , Jaume  ( Lola, Selma and Pepa?s dad), gave us an interesting talk about  the cereals production process.  Jaume is the  Operations Manager in Kellog Manufacturing España SL . We saw how some of the most important cereals we usually have for breakfast ("Krispis" and "Tresor") are produced and packed. Jaume prepared a really entertaining talk  and included some games  while the slideshow was going on that kept students attention during the whole session. Akeles and Mowglis also learned the meaning of SHAME and how important not to be "ashamed" is if you want to learn a language! They also realized how many English words we use even when we talk in Catalan! (for example web, champions?)

For the third one Melanie, who is working as an  au pair at Sonia Salom's house at the moment, talked about Christmas in Germany. We learnt some curious facts like that for Germans Christmas day is the 24^th of December, and that  they start decorating their houses at the beginning of September!

The last conference this term Narcís, Roger and Pau Avellana's dad, came.  He is CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of a technology company called Sensing & Control Systems S.L. He explained how is designed and manufactured an IC (Integrated Circuit), known also as a chip.  He told us that the basic material for manufacturing ICs is the sand!

He also asked us if we knew  how clean the air of the IC factory should be.

Ja hem fet quatre  xerrades més a la classe d'anglès!

A la primera xerrada varem sentir la Hadi, la mare de la Ruth. La Hadi és holandesa i ens va venir a explicar com és el seu país. Va fer una presentació en power point molt interessant . Primer,  va localitzar en un mapa la ciutat d'on és originaria, Groningen i tot seguit, va començar un bonic recorregut d'imatges del seu país. Els Akeles i Mowglis van poder fer -se una idea molt clara de com és Holanda i de ben segur que tots ells saben a hores d'ara que Holanda és un país pla, que hi ha més bicicletes que persones, que hi ha moltes vaques i tulipes i que és ple de dics i canals!

La segona xerrada la va fer el Jaume, el pare de la Lola, la Selma i la Pepa que és cap d'operacions de  la  companyia de cereals Kellogs  a  Espanya i ens va explicar com s'elaboren i envasen alguns dels cereals de la marca kellogs més coneguts com són els Krispis i els Tresor.  El Jaume va preparar una xerrada molt participativa amb jocs i preguntes als alumnes contínuament que els obligava a estar sempre atents i a practicar anglès al màxim. També varen aprendre el significat d'una paraula cabdal per l'aprenentatge de llengües com és SHAME i se'n van adonar de la quantitat de paraules que diem en anglès fins hi tot quan parlem en català! (web, champions?)

La tercera xerrada va venir la Melanie, que està fent de "au pair" a casa la Sònia Salom. La Melanie és alemanya i ens va explicar com celebren el Nadal al seu país. Vam aprendre fets curiosos com que el dia de Nadal pels alemanys és el 24 de Desembre i que ja comencen a guarnir les cases al setembre!

Finalment, va venir el Narcís, que és pare del Roger i el Pau Avellana de l'escola. El Narcís treballa en una companyia tecnològica que es diu Sensing and Control Systems S.L. Ens va explicar els passos que s'han de seguir per l'elaboració de xips o circuits integrats. També ens va dir que la matèria primera que s'usa per fer-los és la sorra!

També ens va preguntar si sabíem fins a quin punt havia d'estar  net l'aire en una fàbrica d'elaboració de xips.
